The Canon XA70 is a compact professional camcorder built around a 1-inch CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV 6 processor, delivering crisp UHD 4K30 and oversampled Full HD footage. Its integrated 15x optical zoom lens, nine-bladed circular iris, and wide DR gamma support provide excellent low-light performance and natural highlight rendering. Dual-Pixel CMOS AF, Face Detection, and a responsive 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD ensure fast, precise focusing in any shooting scenario.

Designed for documentary and ENG workflows, the XA70 offers dual XLR inputs with phantom power, four-channel LPCM audio, and dual SD card slots for relay or simultaneous recording. Pro monitoring tools like zebra, color bars, and a built-in ND filter wheel are included, while USB-C UVC output enables direct livestreaming to a computer. Frequently asked questions

Does this camera possess the ability to record in infrared? And if so, can you record say 1080p60 with it in that mode?

Yes, the Canon XA70 does have low light and IR night recording modes. Canon's IR mode will allow you to record in darkness using infrared recording, and the built-in infrared light on the handle unit, you can record nocturnal animals in their natural environment or other such scenes.

Still no wifi capabilty??

The Canon XA70 does not support or come with WIFI.

Is the mic holder independently detachable, leaving the handle and xlr assembly intact?

Yes, the cameras top handle, and also the mic holder can be removed from the Canon XA70 camcorder. The mic holder can be removed alone from the XLR unit without removing the top handle as well.

What is the difference between the XA60 and the XA70?

Although both cameras are similar in many aspects, such as internal recording, the Canon XA60 Professional UHD 4K Camcorder provides a 1/2.3" CMOS Sensor. In contrast, the Canon XA70 UHD 4K30 Camcorder with Dual-Pixel Autofocus provides a larger 1" CMOS Sensor. The larger sensor offers improved low light and shallow depth of field behind a subject. The Canon XA60 Professional UHD 4K Camcorder also provides a longer optical zoom reach of 20x and does not offer an internal neutral density filter wheel. The Canon XA70 UHD 4K30 Camcorder with Dual-Pixel Autofocus provides a shorter optical zoom reach of 15x and does offer an internal neutral density filter wheel.
